If you're one of the millions of people addicted to "Pokémon GO," you may be wondering when you'll find rarer "Legendary" Pokémon in the game.

Thanks to footage from the game's trailer and references found in the app's code, it's a safe bet that Legendary Pokémon are indeed coming.

That means you can eventually expect to see Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mew, and yes, Mewtwo.

The only question is when.

YouTuber "NesstendoYT" posted a video on July 9 showing references in "Pokémon GO's" code for Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, which are all Legendary bird Pokémon from the region of Kanto.

Since the powerful birds are mascots for the game's three teams (Mystic's is Articuno, Insight's is Zapdos, and Valor's is Moltres), it would make perfect sense for them to show up in the game.

The code also revealed that two other Legendary Pokémon are coming: Mew and Mewtwo.

Footage of Mewtwo was shown in the game's trailer from September, so its appearance in the game should come as no surprise. In the trailer, legions of players congregate in New York City's Times Square to fight Mewtwo together. There's a 10 minute timer for the battle, and given how many Pokémon are shown trying to take Mewtwo down, it looks like catching Legendary Pokémon will be no easy task.

The Mewtwo fight shown in the trailer also indicates that group battles are coming to the game, a feature that the CEO of Niantic (the studio that developed "Pokémon GO") said was coming in a 2015 interview.

Aside from the "Legendary" Pokémon, it also looks like you'll be able to catch rarer, more elusive Pokémon like Ditto, a Pokémon that simply copies other Pokémon's appearances, stats, and abilities. If Ditto appears in the game, it could open up the possibility of breeding Pokémon to create eggs. Ditto's main ability is that it can breed with just about any other Pokémon to produce eggs of other species.

For now, the people behind "Pokémon GO" aren't offering up any details about when we'll see Legendary Pokémon in the game. A spokesperson for The Pokémon Company told Tech Insider that "we don't have any info to share at this time" about Legendaries.

Until Mewtwo and co. make an official appearance, don't believe rumors you see online about them hiding in plain sight. Some have said they've spotted Mewtwo in random parts of New York City already, but we know it's not roaming the streets... yet.
