A few days back, a video of singer Sonu Nigam surfaced online, showing him singing while aboard a Jet Airways flight using the airplane's public announcement system.

The video went viral in no time, and was shared extensively on social media, with people posting comments like, “I wish I was there in that plane,” and “the people onboard are so lucky.”

However, the video has not gone down too well with the aviation regulator, as the airline has suspended five of the cabin crew members who allowed the singer to use the plane’s mic. The singer has now reacted on the suspension, citing the reaction as the real example of intolerance.

In an exclusive interview to TOI, Sonu said "I have witnessed an elaborate fashion show in an aircraft. I have heard of small concerts happening in an aircraft." He also added, "I have seen pilots and crew members cracking humorous jokes to loosen up passengers in other countries, which is so cool". And while all that is acceptable, even welcome, here, "to suspend crew members for asking me to sing on the address system, when the seat belt signs were off, and no announcements were to be made, is nothing less than punishing someone for spreading happiness."

He also added that it is a "pity there's no one to question such harshness except the Media perhaps. Indians, need to loosen up." He ended the interview by saying that "this act of lack of common sense, according to me, is real intolerance."
