Starting this week, small businesses can apply for two federal government programs that could help them weather the coronavirus crisis. Demand for these grants and loans is extremely high, so business owners will need to prepare their applications now.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told CNBC that he plans to ask Congress for additional funding if the current stimulus package isn't enough. "One of the things I've heard is this small business program is going to be so popular that we're going to run out of our $350 billion," he said.

Applications for Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) are now open on the Small Business Administration's (SBA) website and applications for the Paycheck Protection Program will open on April 3, 2020.
