The CDC has linked a new E. coli case to Chipotle.

In a release on Friday, the CDC reported that seven more people have come down with E. coli, including cases in three news states including Illinois, Maryland, and Pennsylavnia.

Of the three newest cases, the CDC said one person - whose illness started on November 10 - reported eating at Chipotle in the week before their illness began.

Following this news shares of Chipotle fell sharply, losing as much as 4%, but had rebounded quicly and near noon on Friday were off about 3%.

The CDC's investigation is still ongoing to determine was specific food is linked to this illness.

As of December 2, the CDC said that 52 people have come down with E. coli in 9 states. 47 of these people reported eating at Chipotle in the week before their illness started.

In a November 20 update on the E. coli outbreak, the CDC said that 45 people had come down with the illness and that 43 of these patients had eaten at Chipotle in the week before their illness started. That update noted that the E. coli outbreak, which began in Oregon and Washington, had also spread to California, Minnestora, Ohio, and New York.

This report sent Chipotle shares down 12%.

Chipotle shares have fallen about 17% this year, with the stock losing about a quarter of its value in the last few months after hitting an all-time high in late summer.
