  • After Darnold rolled out to the right, he tried to pass back to the left side of the field, but Quandre Diggs jumped in front of the receiver and returned the interception for a touchdown.
  • Darnold, the third pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, was named the starter for the Jets after the team traded Teddy Bridgewater to the New Orleans Saints.
  • The former USC quarterback is the youngest opening-week starting quarterback in the NFL since 1950.
