Two men rescued a Carnival Cruise Line passenger from drowning in St. Thomas last week, a Carnival representative confirmed to Business Insider.

A video of the rescue posted to Facebook on August 12 shows the men, Kashief Hamilton and Randolph Donovan, helping the woman stay in a life preserver while she is pulled out of the water.

The woman's brother had forgotten to lock the brakes on her wheelchair, leading her to roll into the water, Yahoo reported. In an interview with the website, Donovan said he heard screams at the dock before seeing the woman. He said he "didn't think twice" about jumping into the water to help her.

Hamilton joined Donovan after sensing that Donovan was getting tired and supported him as a life preserver was thrown from the dock to pull the woman out of the water, he told Yahoo. The rescue took about 12 minutes, according to Yahoo's report.

The woman was not injured during the incident, the Carnival representative said. Carnival gave her a complementary replacement wheelchair for the rest of the cruise.

"Our most sincere thanks and appreciation to these individuals for their heroic efforts in assisting this guest," the Carnival representative said.

Joseph Boschulte, the commissioner of the US Virgin Islands Department of Tourism, reportedly rewarded Hamilton and Donovan, who work for the Department of Tourism as entertainers, with a free Carnival cruise and vacation days.

The US Virgin Islands Department of Tourism did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.
