The Jeep brand is making its debut in India three years after the first spy shots of the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Grand Cherokee were seen online. Jeep’s offerings will initially be imported into the country via the CBU way. The company sure knows when to strike the iron.
Jeep is looking to sell only 1,500-2,000 units in the first year through 15-30 existing Fiat dealerships in the largest cities. The company looks to launch the Jeep 551 C-SUV in India in 2017, and manufacture the same at Fiat’s Ranjangaon plant. The company said its planning a $ 280 million investment in India.
The Jeep Cherokee SRT is powered by 6.4 litre engine that generates a whopping 475 BHP of Power and 644 Nm of Torque. Targetted against the likes of

The Wrangler would be offered in 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine that generates 275 BHP of Power and 359 Nm of Torque. It’s Diesel version would be powered by 2.8 litre engine option that generates about 197 BHP of Power and 451 Nm of Torque.
To begin with, the Jeep badged vehicles would only be sold via 15-30 existing Fiat dealers located in about 15 larger cities.
