Brand refurbished sounds good! Amazon India to offer such phones from Samsung and Xiaomi

Amazon.in would now sell brand-refurbished smartphones from popular brands such as Samsung and Xiaomi in the initial stage. These smartphones will be revamped and clearly marked as 'Refurbished' to differentiate them from new phones.

Consumers need not worry about the quality of the product as these smartphones will be as good as the new phones. They will come with 6 months or higher warranty periods from the brands and customers can be rest assured of their durability and functionality, reported the Economic Times.

Consumer Electronics (CE) segment occupies one of the top three slots on Amazon.in with smartphones emerging as the fastest growing category in the segment.

During the last six months, the total CE selection available for purchase has grown significantly, that is nearly 150% and the customer demand too has spiraled northwards by similar percentage points in the last one year.

Today over 82 smartphone brands including leading international and domestic ones, are available to customers for purchase from across the county on this eCommerce platform.

Amazon India, director category management - media, Noor Patel, said: "Our consumer insights give us enough reason to believe that there is a market in India for quality-assured, brand-refurbished smartphones at value prices. We are starting the refurbished category as a pilot and will scale as we see more feedback from customers.”

Patel was of the view that the smartphone ecosystem will gear up for more brand-refurbished products in the coming months.

The phones would be marked differently in order to help customers make an informed choice.

The pilot is currently limited to a few brands and models. Customers can look forward to more brands and models in the smartphone segment in the coming months.
