Burger King, which entered Indian some nine months ago, is now evolving itself to cater consumers, who order food through mobile apps.
The US burger giant is starting home delivery service in the country and has partnered with three tech firms-LimeTray, FastOx and Grab-to start the services.
India is the fifth country after the US, Spain, Korea and China, whereBurger King will start home delivery.
It will start home delivering in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai this week.
Burger King said that this was for the first time in its history that the delivery-service was launched within the first nine months of its debut in any country.
Burger King CEO Raj Varman told Economic Times, “We believe tech-enabled solutions will give us a chance to keep pace with customers. Online apps and mobile penetration have changed the way business is being done."
Burger King had started the e-ordering option through online eBay.
Reportedly, India’s organised food market is pegged at $48 billion, of which $10 billion is contributed by the delivery market.
Online and mobile delivery constitutes over 10% of total delivery and number is growing at a rate of more than 25%.
Harminder Sahni, promoter of retail consultancy firm Wazir Advisors told the financial daily that besides McDonald's and KFC which have all launched apps, there are scores of hyper local delivery firms which even deliver through the night and various independent mobile food delivery market places.
