Telecom industry body blames regulator TRAI yet again for siding with Reliance Jio

Telcos likely to have raised many issues to the TRAI around Reliance Jio’s entry in the market. Reliance Jio services were launched on the 5th of September after a pretty long test period that started from December 2015. While Jio has filed its tariff with the TRAI, Jio will continue to provide services for free under its “Welcome Offer” till the end of December 2016. It looks like the Jio telcos do not buy Jio’s welcome offer as Reliance Jio and the incumbent operators have been majorly sparring over points of interconnection and
COAI had written to the telecom regulator to be included in the meeting but did not get any response from the regulator and the meeting took place with Airtel, Vodafone, Idea and Rel Jio.
