Donald Trump is starting to make peace with journalists he once called 'clowns' and 'pathetic'

Real-estate magnate Donald Trump is well-known for his aggressive approach to his critics in the press. But lately, Trump has been showing a softer side.

Trump frequently blasted reporters and columnists in handwritten comments on printed versions of their articles.

"You are the racist," Trump wrote to Washington Post columnist Jonathan Capehart last month, for instance. 

On Tuesday, the Post's Chris Cillizza tweeted a photo of one of Trump's media missives that hailed his work:

Needless to say, Trump wasn't always such a fan:

That's not the only time in recent days that Trump has decided to revise his opinion about a journalist.

Trump previously raged against conservative pundit Charles Krauthammer:

But then Trump praised Krauthammer on Monday night after he appeared on Fox News:

And Trump used to predict 'Meet the Press' anchor Chuck Todd would be 'fired like a dog':

But apparently Trump has recently made 'progress' on that front as well. And he appeared on 'Meet the Press' last weekend:
