ESPN host says nobody criticized Travis Kelce's touchdown dance because 'he isn't black'
CBS Sports
Many were outraged by Newton's dance, believing it was classless and over the top. Dabbing - the name of Newton's dance - became the subject of great, nationwide debate and intrigue: Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith debated Newton's behavior on their show First Take, and one mother wrote a letter to her local Tennessee newspaper lambasting Newton's behavior and leadership.
This past weekend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce scored a touchdown, ending a long scoreless drought. In the end zone, Kelce busted out a different (but equally impressive) end zone dance (called the quan, FYI). However, unlike with Newton, nothing was made of Kelce's dance.
This raised the eyebrows of ESPN anchor Robert Flores on Monday, who questioned it on air.
"Wondering why there's no letters to the editor, or why 'First Take's' not doing 'Should Travis Kelce be dancing in the end zone?' I wonder why they're not doing that… oh, because he's not black," Flores said.
Here's the dance:
