We recently caught up with Gregory Bryant, Vice President, Sales and Marketing Group, Asia-Pacific and Japan Region who was in town for few industry and government meetings. We got to know that Intel is in talks with the new Indian government for partnerships.
The BJP government is a pro-technology and internet administration, and who better to partner with than Intel for a smarter future. The sort of experience this multi-national has can be utilised in a big manner. During our course of conversation with Gregory, the topic of smart cities and broad band came up. Intel is very serious about these cities as they can help developing these in a big manner.
The plans for many smart cities in India have be sanctioned and clearances should be in order soon. Intel wants to be a part of these cities as an enabler. This will be a bright opportunity for Intel toinvest in the country and become a part of the long-term plan. However, like Intel there are other international companies vying for similar spots in these smart cities. That could be a challenge for them and only time will tell with whom the new Indian Government goes with.
