ICSE results: Girls have outperformed boys -- again

The results for class 10th and 12th have been announced today by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations.

Again, girls outperformed boys. Over the last few years, while the competition has been tough, girls have outshone boys for both ICSE (class 10th) and ISC (class 12th) examinations.

Pass percentage for girls in the ISC exam was 97.83% while it was 95.4% for boys.

This year in class 12th, the total number of candidates were 86,713 for ISC, with 39,964 girls appearing in the examination. The number of Girls who passed is 39,100 while 44,597 number of boys cleared the examination out of the 46,749 that appeared.

In 2018, the pass percentage of girls in class 12th was 97.63% while the pass percentage among boys stood at 94.96%. Moreover, the pass percentage of boys and girls for class 10th was also recorded as 98.95% and 98.15%, respectively.

However, the schools abroad under the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations recorded a 100% overall pass percentage.

The trend holds true for the previous years as well. In 2017, the pass percentage was more among girls than boys. In ICSE, 99.03% girls passed and 98.13% boys cleared the exam. While for ISC pass percentage stood at 97.73%, more compared to 95.39% among boys.

Infact, the top performers for both ICSE and ISC in 2017 were reportedly girls. Muskan Abdulla Pathan from Hutchings High School, Pune and Ananya Maity of The Heritage School, Kolkata topped the ICSE and ISC boards, with 99.4% and 99.5% marks, respectively.
