April Fools’ Day is celebrated on 1st April every year by playing practical jokes and spreading hoaxes. The victims are called April Fools. While there are numerous theories about its origin, the first mention was in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. Since then on 1st of April pranksters come up with all sorts of innovative, but harmless pranks. This year start-ups couldn’t have been left behind, now could they! Having long pioneered the idea of innovation in business, their ideas to prank people were nothing short of genius. While some were just for fun, some carried a message in it.
Co-founder of Zenify.in, Sudarshan Purohit’s prank will sure leave roars of laughter echoing in the meeting room of
On the last April Fools’ Day YuppTv’s HR team did something alarming. They put up the fire alarm in the office and everyone began to exit to the ground floor, a few panicked and a few others helped others escape along with them. While this was a prank, it was a HR strategy to identity the team players in the company. Once everyone gathered on the ground floor, we announced it was an April Fools’ prank and honoured the most panicked ones with the “Fully Fool” Award and they treated the rest of this office with a grand Lunch for saving their lives, said Udaynandan Reddy- CEO & founder of YuppTV.

“We wanted to see how they'd react to something that is very unlike our ethos. We announced that our next series of channels will be based on the adult content industry, since India is at the top of the list in the viewership anyway,” said Parveen Mittal, co-founder and chief executive officer of Affimity.com
Needless to say, the reaction was priceless. The funnier part was seeing the employees actually buying into the idea, said Parveen.
Shotang, on the other hand, played pranks with a message. As they have entered the fitness genre recently, their pranks focused on fitness regimes and healthy habits.
There was poster on the elevator door saying ‘this is out of order’. Employees had to take the stairs to the third floor to the office. Also, Beer bottles were placed on everyone’s table but these were filled with fruit juice, said Anish Basu Roy, Co-founder & CEO,
Now the funniest prank! This was a bad day to get onboard Shotang. The new joiners were asked to do minimum 20 push-ups if they want to sign the joining letter. Things can’t get more hilarious.
