Jets lose to Patriots after a controversial replay review changed a touchdown into a turnover

The New York Jets had a tough loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
After the Jets jumped out to a 14-0 lead to start the game, they fell behind and were looking to mount a comeback.
In the fourth quarter, Jets tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins thought he had brought New York within striking distance, scoring a touchdown to bring the score to 24-21. But when the touchdown went to review, the referees came back with a confusing ruling - no touchdown, Patriots ball.
The play was overturned when the officials determined Seferian-Jenkins lost control of the ball before he crossed the goal line and didn't recover possession until he was out of bounds in the end zone. It was determined that he had essentially fumbled the ball out of the end zone, which by rule is a turnover and a touchback for the defense.
Ian Eagle and Dan Fouts, the commentators calling the game, were baffled. "One of the worst calls I've ever seen," Fouts said. "Paralysis by analysis," Eagle called it.

The call would turn out to have pretty big implications. The Jets would hold the Patriots again, and had the touchdown initially stood, would have needed just a field goal to tie the game.
"Strangest decision with no real visual evidence that it wasn't a touchdown," said Fouts as the Patriots knelt to end the game.
Frustrated football fans on Twitter were equally exasperated with the call.
The Patriots ended up winning the game 24-17, and with the win took sole possession of first place in the AFC East for the first time this season.
So this was ruled a touchback & an automatic turnover on downs...only the Jets man pic.twitter.com/tyq3c9TOEl

In case you didn't see the worst call in NFL history. This was ruled a fumble and turnover for the Jets. #Jets pic.twitter.com/CKXzr2fxdB

That #Jets touchdown to turnover was ridiculous. Such a bad call. I don't care who you're a fan of but that's just a terrible call.

That turnover call against the Jets is the single worst call the Pats have ever benefited from, including the tuck rule
