One Statistic Explains Birchbox's Crazy Success
Sapna Maheshwari at Buzzfeed interviewed Birchbox co-founder and co-CEO Katia Beauchamp.
For those not familiar, Birchbox is a subscription service that sends customers a box of beauty samples every month. Women pay $10 per month, men $20.
Beauchamp offered Buzzfeed a stunning statistic showing how effective Birchbox is:
For example, Stila, after sending a sample eye shadow palette to 7% of Birchbox’s subscribers saw 11.2% of that group go on to purchase a full-size version of the product, which the company says is more than 10 times the average success rate for the beauty industry. (Think: the samples you get at a department store, or Sephora.)
The company was founded in 2010 and is set to triple sales in 2013, Maheshwari reports. Birchbox quadrupled sales last year.
