The gunman, who is reportedly a 20-year-old male, is also dead, according to NBC's Peter Williams.
While little is yet known about the gunman, reports are starting to come in from bystanders who witnessed the attack. One such account is particularly disturbing.
Kortney Moore, an 18-year-old student at Umpqua Community College, told Oregon newspaper The News-Review that she was in her Writing 115 class when the attack began. After the shooter shot her teacher in the head from outside the window, he entered the classroom and told people to get on the ground, she said. The shooter then demanded that people stand up and state their religion, Moore told The News-Review. After doing so, he started firing.
Moore got on the ground with people who had been shot.
