Police close in on Berlin terror suspect - reports Anis Amri has been shot dead in Italy
Reuters
Reuters originally reported that the Tunisian, suspected of killing 12 people with a 40-tonne truck on Monday, could still be in Berlin after he was filmed by police in the city shortly after the atrocity.
But around 9 a.m. GMT, the news agency said a man matching Amri's description has been spotted in Denmark.
Just minutes later, however, Sky News cited a Reuters report that Amri has been killed in a shootout in Milan, Italy. Sky News added that a press conference is planned for 9.45 a.m. in Rome. AFP is also reporting that the Berlin suspect has been shot dead.
Amri used to live in Italy and will have knowledge of the country. He left Tunisia after the 2011 revolution and lived in Italy, according to AFP. Italian media said he served time in prison there for setting fire to a school.
