Senior executives of Volkswagen India have quit

Indian auto industry has certainly seen better days than these.


First, General Motors announced its decision to withdraw operations from the domestic market, then Tata Motors fired 1,500 managers, and now several high-profile executives have walked out from Volkswagen India.

The top deck of the sales division at Volkswagen India is practically empty, which has toughened its battle to win a good market share in India.

The key people in sales department who have left VW India are Pankaj Sharma (head of sales), Neerav Shah (national head of corporate sales), and Ravi Prakash (South sales manager), while several other exits might be lined up for the coming weeks.

Theirry Lespiaucq, head of Volkswagen Group Sales, is now working as an interim executive for India operations of world’s biggest carmaker.

In FY17, VW has held a nominal 1.64% market share in India, with sales of 50,042 units as compared to last year’s 41,096 units.
