'Serial's' Adnan Syed was reportedly granted a new trial
Serial
Adnan Syed, the subject of the first season of the popular true-crime podcast "Serial," has been granted a new trial, according to his attorney, Justin Brown.
"WE WON A NEW TRIAL FOR ADNAN SYED!!!" he tweeted on Thursday afternoon.
No further details have been released.
Syed is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Hae Min Lee in 1999. The case was the subject of "Serial," the first spin-off from "This American Life," and went on to be a sensation, with listeners debating whether or not Syed was in prison for a crime he did not commit.
Though public opinion seems to be split on whether or not her actually murdered Hae Min Lee, most listeners agree that he did not receive a fair trial. If his attorney is correct, he'll be getting another chance.
