The Ivy League admissions numbers are starting to trickle out

Top high school students from around the world just found out whether they will attend one of the eight prestigious Ivy League universities next year.

Admissions decisions don't come out until 5 p.m., but Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania have already released their admissions data.

Columbia University accepted 2,228 from a pool of 36,250 applications, according to a university press release, for a 6.1% acceptance rate - a record low for the school. Last year, Columbia admitted 6.94% of applicants.

UPenn accepted 3,697 from 37,267 applicants - the largest in the University's history - according to a university press release. The admissions rate for the Class of 2019 stayed the same as last year, at 9.9%.
