The Patriots are Super Bowl favorites again, but 2 surprising teams are dominating the NFL
The New England Patriots are once again a strong favorite to win the Super Bowl, but there are two surprising teams that are actually dominating the NFL this season - The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Los Angeles Rams.
The Patriots have a 27% chance to win the Super Bowl, according to the latest projections at Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight. They are followed by the Philadelphia Eagles (19%), the Minnesota Vikings (14%), and Pittsburgh Steelers (13%), as the only teams over 5%.
However, if we look at teams simply based on how well they have played all season, the most dominant teams have been the Rams, who have outscored their opponents by 166 points, and the Jaguars, with a point differential of +165. The Eagles are a close third, but have slowed since the season-ending injury to quarterback Carson Wentz.
Here are the six teams that are considered to have the best shot of having a first-round bye in the playoffs, according to FiveThirtyEight, and how they compare in terms of dominating the teams on their respective schedules.
