Switzerland is the cheapest destination for a ski holiday this winter, according to Tesco Bank's Index.

The price of a skiing holiday has risen significantly in the last year according to Tesco Bank's annual Ski Index

This year's report, which finds the best spots to ski around the world by charting which resorts have the best value skiing per kilometre of piste*, shows that British skiers are getting less time on the slopes for their pound, with prices in Bulgaria rising by 65.6% since last year and the USA and Canada going up by 28% and 25.1% respectively.

However, research from Tesco Bank also revealed that more than a third of UK adults are still considering a ski holiday despite the spike in prices, with 42% of the 2,000 adults surveyed saying they would choose a skiing holiday in Switzerland.

In order to help you get the best value this winter, see the 10 cheapest European ski resorts below, based on the cost to ski per kilometre at 1,955 resorts worldwide.

*The research is based on the cost of a 6 day lift pass in 1,955 ski resorts worldwide and the kilometres of piste available in each resort, between 1st August and 1st September to calculate the cost to ski per kilometre in GBP.
