A video posted by the Abu Sayyaf group, which was monitored by SITE, showed German hostage Jurgen Kantner being murdered.
Kantner was abducted in November, and his partner Sabine Merz was shot and killed.
A video released by Abu Sayyaf earlier this month showed Kantner pleading for his life in exchange for a $600,000 ransom.
"If their demand of 30 million pesos is not met by Feb 26, at 3pm, they will behead the hostage and post it on social media," subtitles on the video read, according to Newsweek.

The Associated Press reports Kantner was beheaded in the video.
