Watch a US-led coalition airstrike send an ISIS weapons facility in western Iraq up in flames

Airstrikes on ISIS targets in Iraq continued through late September into October, as US-led coalition bombings focused on the terror group's weapons facilities and other infrastructure.

On September 26, a coalition airstrike hit what Operation Inherent Resolve officials called a vehicle-borne improvised-explosive-device facility and chemical-munitions plant near Al Qaim, in western Iraq near the Syrian border, as shown in the GIF below:

The US-led coalition targeting ISIS in Iraq and Syria has hit dozens of targets in both countries in recent weeks. During the first three days of October, the coalition mounted another 69 strikes hitting ISIS facilities, fighting positions, weapons emplacements, and energy infrastructure.

Fighting in Syria has become increasingly fractured in recent weeks as heavy bombardment continues in and around Aleppo and Western efforts to affect a cease-fire stalled and appeared to fall apart.

In Iraq, Iraqi forces and other armed groups on the ground have continued to prepare for an assault on Mosul, ISIS' largest remaining stronghold in the country. The US-led coalition has continued to bomb targets in and around Mosul in support of those ground operations.
