India’s Defence Minister Parrikar added that three women candidates have been selected for 'Stage-II' training as fighter pilots, which would complete by June-July.
As of now, they have been inducted in short service on an experimental basis so that they can ascertain the difficulties that they could faced and those are taken care of well before inducting them on a permanent basis.
He mentioned that there is no gender bias in the training, and both men and women IAF pilots have to undergo same type of specialised jungle and snow survival training.
On being pointed out that women might get afraid of flying fighter jets, he said that he believes that in future, women will outnumber men as fighter pilots in the IAF.
