Financial-services professionals are known to have very demanding work schedules, but that doesn't mean they aren't setting aside time to crack open a few books.

Business Insider recently reached out to our contacts on Wall Street to find out what folks would recommend as must-reads just ahead of the Holiday Season.

Surprisingly, the majority of books recommended have nothing or little to do with finance and business, spanning topics from history to psychology.

Here are the 23 recommendations we received:
