This is another blow to Assam which is already suffering from severe rains and floods. At least 4,128 villages across 28 districts were affected, and 50 people have died due to the monsoon floods.

The water level of Brahmaputra continues to rise above the danger mark in at least 10 places, reported Reuters, citing Assam Disaster Management Authority. Authorities have opened 1,080 relief camps which are currently house more than 200,000 people, according to Assam Disaster Management Authority.

The situation is no better in Bihar where 4.7 million people are affected by floods and heavy rains. The death toll in Bihar stands 67 as of 19 June. The people there claim that they are forced to eat rats to survive.
