StarWars.com has confirmed the news and notes that the screenplay was written by Lawrence Kasdan (wrote scripts for "Empire Strikes Back," "Return of the Jedi," and latest "Star Wars" film, "The Force Awarkens"). The film is slated for a May 25, 2018 release.

With Miller and Lord on board, the "Star Wars" franchise has a highly coveted duo working for it. The pair have written, directed, and produced films that have collectively grossed over $1 billion worldwide.
