A salmon spawned on Obama's shoes during his trip to Alaska

President Barack Obama had a salmon spawn on his shoes during his three-day trip to Alaska this week.

Obama visited the US Arctic to spur action to highlight the effects of climate change and reach out to the Alaska Native population.

On Wednesday, he also got to witness a large silver salmon release its reproductive materials as he held it, according to a White House pool report.

"Uh-oh. What happened there?" Obama asked, according to the pool report. "Did you see that?"

"Generally you don't want fish spawning on your feet," he added. "He said he was happy to see me."
