While Shekerbekova, who is six years junior to 31-year-old Mary, made a good start winning the first round. However, Mary used her greater experience to pave her way to victory. Using her experience from 14 years of boxing, Mary Kom smartly analysed Shekerbekova's approach before showcasing her super power to the Kazak. The Padma Bhushan award winner, then, rushed to claim top honours in the event.
