Box Office Collections of Roy

Feb 16, 2015, 18:14 IST
A nice romantic movie with soft soulful music is all that we could have asked for Valentine’s Day weekend. From the looks of it, Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer Roy promised to be all that. However, the reality was far different from the same. Desimartini’s verdict of the movie reads, “No amount of Ranbir Kapoor could save this overindulgent wreck of a film.”

The movie started on a good note on Friday and managed to mint Rs 10.40 crore on Friday. The Valentine’s Day helped in maintaining the momentum and the movie managed to add another Rs 11.16 crore to its weekend total. On the other hand, Sunday had a different story to tell. This multi starrer movie ended up collecting Rs 7.12 crore, taking the overall weekend tally to Rs 28.68 crore. The drop that the movie witnessed was partly due to the bad reviews and also because of the India Vs Pakistan 2015 World Cup match.

Another movie that opened this week was Ram Rahim Singh’s controversial movie, MSG: The Messenger. Over the weekend, this movie managed a mere Rs 6 crore and has been touted by the critics as a self-praising movie, made just for the fans.

We just hope things to improve immensely in the coming week when Varun Dhawan starrer Badlapur hits the big screen. If the promos are anything to go by, it looks like an intense fair and Dhawan is expected to woo the audiences with his powerful performance.
