In 2016, cricketer Suresh Raina and his wife Priyanka Raina welcomed their daughter Gracia to the world. Along with going through the pains and pleasures of parenting, the duo also learnt something from their baby.

Before the fourth birthday of their daughter, the Rainas have turned entrepreneurs and launched a babycare brand – Maaté.

Maaté claims that it uses only pure and natural ingredients so as to create a toxin-free body and planet.

“We’ve been working on the brand for the past three years, and we’ve brought in ancient wisdom and traditional practices in the making of the products. We are certain that we will be able to gain the trust of many parents. It is about a new generation and the comfort and care we want to give them for their babies,” said the duo about their new brand.

For now, the brand offers products in three categories – Nourish with baby massage oil and hair oil, Cleanse with hair cleanser and body wash and Comfort with body butter and face butter.

In 2017, the duo also launched the Gracia Raina Foundation which aims to empower adolescent girls and women to teach them about reproductive and sexual wellness.

“It is to ensure that mothers are well-informed about pregnancy-related challenges, resulting in happy, and healthy childbirths,” says the foundation website. The foundation even has a mobile clinic called OPD on wheels.

Priyanka Raina is an engineer by profession and has also delivered a TED speech on the foundation and its work.
