Popular cars such as Alto to Elite i20, there’s going to be an uptick in prices.

For instance, a car priced at Rs 6 lakh would see its price go up from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000.

Due to the price hike, automakers are offering discounts fearing slump in sales.

Maruti Suzuki dealers are offering discounts of Rs 25,000-35,000 on Alto and Swift, whereas Hyundai is slashing prices by Rs 25,000. It is offering pre-GST benefits across several vehicles.

Honda Cars India's offer is the most innovative. It has assured compensation to buyers in event of a decline in vehicle prices due to implementation of GST.

But, post GST, diesel cars will be worst affected as their prices will go up by more than Rs 21,000.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire is priced at Rs 7,76,000 ex-showroom New Delhi. Post GST, the same car will be priced at around Rs 7,97,300, an increase of more than Rs 21,000.
