Here's what the 'Scott Pilgrim' characters in Netflix's new anime look like compared to their live-action movie counterparts
  • "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off" is an anime adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's comic series.
  • The full cast of the "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" film returned to voice their roles.

Almost two decades after Bryan Lee O'Malley's manga-influenced "Scott Pilgrim" comic debuted, the iconic series about an average guy and his subspace-traveling girlfriend has finally been adapted into an anime.

"Scott Pilgrim Takes Off," the anime series produced by Japanese studio Science Saru ("Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken"), is an eight-episode revisitation to a familiar story. Scott Pilgrim, an early 20s bass player in the indie band Sex Bob-omb, becomes infatuated with new girl Ramona Flowers after she uses a subspace highway running through his brain to deliver packages. In order to be with her, however, he has to face one crucial challenge — defeating her seven, evil exes.

This isn't the first time that "Scott Pilgrim" has been adapted. The series was turned into a cult classic live-action movie in 2010 directed by Edgar Wright. The full cast of that film have returned to reprise their roles in the new anime, and there are some big names: Chris Evans and Brie Larson have both gone on to become Avengers; Kieran Culkin starred in "Succession"; Anna Kendrick led the "Pitch Perfect" franchise across three movies.

Here's what the "Scott Pilgrim" characters on Netflix's new animated show look like versus how the same characters looked in the live-action movie.
