Bank of America has poached a senior trading exec from Goldman Sachs amid a leadership reshuffle in its global markets business

Bank of America has poached a senior Goldman Sachs trading executive and is reshuffling leadership in its global markets division, the company announced on Thursday in an internal memo.

Carlos Fernandez-Aller, a Goldman partner who served as the Americas head of global currencies in addition to overseeing equities and fixed-income trading for the Latin America region, resigned from the investment bank this week and is joining Bank of America, according to an internal memo viewed by Business Insider and multiple sources familiar with matter.

Fernandez-Aller will join the firm as cohead of the foreign exchange business alongside Denis Manelski, according to the internal memo from markets heads Jim DeMare, Fab Gallo, and Bernie Mensah.

Additionally, Mayur Jethwa, currently head of European FICC trading, is taking on a new role in equities as head of the Global Equity Cash business. As part of his role, he will focus on "platform enhancements including increasing investments in quantitative capabilities," according to the memo.

Manelski will take over Jethwa's role heading up FICC trading in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, in addition to coheading FX with Fernandez-Aller and running global financing and futures.

Bank of America declined to comment. Goldman Sachs did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
