Here's how we ranked the best restaurants in America

We recently ranked the best restaurants in America. Here's how we came up with our list.

The lists we used were The Daily Meal's 101 Best Restaurants in America 2016, OpenTable's 100 Hottest Restaurants in America for 2016, The World's 50 Best Restaurants, the James Beard Foundation's 2016 Restaurant and Chef Award Semifinalists, Eater's The National 38, and the Michelin Guide.

We weighed Michelin stars higher, awarding restaurants with one star 2/3 of a point, restaurants with two stars 4/3 of a point (or 1 and 1/3 of a point), and restaurants with three stars with a full 2 points.
