The State of Maharashtra has 48 Lok Sabha seats in total. The Election Commission of India has announced that the polling for the Lok Sabha Constituencies of Maharashtra will happen in 4 phases right from the starting of elections on April 11. The dates of polling in Maharashtra are April 11, 18, 23 and 29.

The present status of constituencies in Maharashtra

During the 2014 elections for the Lok Sabha, the position of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Maharashtra improved tremendously. The party presently holds 23 seats in the state. In 2009 elections, BJP had got only 9 seats in Maharashtra.
The Congress has 2 seats and the Nationalist Congress Party has 4 seats in Maharashtra as of now. While the Congress Party had won from 17 constituencies in 2009 elections, it faced a severe fall in the state getting only 2 seats during the last Lok Sabha elections.
