Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was a profound leader and a great thinker too. The military expedition he staged against the British in India is still a symbol of patriotism, bravery, and Warcraft. Though he could not directly succeed in his mission, the stiff opposition he presented to the British certainly challenged their oppressive rule. Netaji’s birth anniversary is celebrated on January 23. Here is a collection of quotes of Netaji to reflect on this occasion.

Netaji inspires freedom fighters

Netaji infused courage and confidence in the hearts of freedom fighters. His army, named as Indian National Army (INA), was a startling example of Netaji’s superior warcraft and able leadership qualities. Some of his inspiring quotes he delivered to motivate the INA men in particular and the Indian citizens in general can throw more light on Netaji’s patriotism and sacrifice.

"One individual may die for an idea, but that idea will, after his death, incarnate itself in a thousand lives."

"It is blood alone that can pay the price of freedom. Give me blood and I will give you freedom".

"Men, money and material cannot by themselves bring victory or freedom. We must have the motive-power that will inspire us to brave deeds and heroic exploits."

"Life loses half its interest if there is no struggle, if there are no risks to be taken."

Netaji sows optimism and the vision for India

Netaji always believed India as a spiritual nation with indomitable energy. Though he could not immediately succeed in liberating India through the military expedition he staged in 1944, he never lost his hope. He urged the army men to stay positive and keep doing what best they could do for the nation.

Netaji said during the moment when the INA lost the battle, “"At this unprecedented juncture in our history I have a word for you. Do not be disheartened by our temporary defeat; be cheerful and optimistic. Above all, never lose your faith in the destiny of India. There is no power on earth which can keep India in bondage. India will be free, and that too, soon. JAl HIND"

While resounding his hopes about the imminent freedom of India, Netaji once said, “It does not matter who among us will live to see India free. It is enough that India shall be free and that we shall give our all to make her free.”

Netaji talking of warcraft

Netaji’s strong organising abilities surprised even the enemies. He joined hands with the Japanese army to get the support he needed to fight against the British, who were their common enemy. Not many of the leaders in the scene of India’s freedom struggle supported his extremist ways. However, he never lost hope and implemented some courageous and thoughtful strategies to fight for the country’s freedom.

“The secret of political bargaining is to look stronger than what you really are.”

“It is our duty to pay for our liberty with our own blood. The freedom that we shall win through our sacrifice and exertions, we shall be able to preserve with our own strength.”

“Soldiers who always remain faithful to their nation, are always prepared to sacrifice their lives, are invincible.”

“It is our duty to pay for our liberty with our own blood. The freedom that we shall win through our sacrifice and exertions, we shall be able to preserve with our own strength.”
