PM Modi lays foundation brick at Ram Mandir site in Ayodhya

Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Ayodhya where he will lay the foundation stone of Ram temple. The Prime Minister's Office shared a picture of Modi boarding an Air Force plane. He was dressed in traditional dhoti-kurta.

The August 5 ceremony will mark the beginning of the temple's construction. A decades-long title suit over the site at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh was settled by the Supreme Court in November last year. Both Hindus and Muslims have accepted the Supreme Court verdict over Ram Janmabhoomi (the birthplace for Lord Rama).

The “Bhoomi Pujan” is an important ceremony where priests, devotees along with the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation of the grand Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh.

The 'Bhoomi Pujan' for the proposed Ram temple in Ayodhya will begin at 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday with the Prime Minister performing the 'Shila Pujan', 'Bhoomi Pujan' and 'Karma Shila Pujan'.

According to an official statement, the main 'puja' will be held between 12.44 p.m. and 12.45 p.m. during the 32-second 'Abhijit Muhurat'. It is the same 'muhurat' or the auspicious moment when Lord Ram was believed to have been born.The Prime Minister will lay a 40-kg silver brick to symbolise the start of construction of the temple.

He will unveil a plaque to mark the laying of the foundation stone and also release a commemorative postage stamp on the 'Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir'.

Modi is likely to spend around three hours in Ayodhya.

The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the Uttar Pradesh Police have intensified patrolling along the 551 km-long India-Nepal border, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Ayodhya for Ram Temple Bhoomi Puja on Wednesday.

According to senior police officers, a tight vigil is being maintained on movement along the border and people living in villages adjoining the border have been asked to alert security officials if they come across any suspicious activity or element in their area.

The security arrangements across the state, especially in Ayodhya and on the Indo-Nepal border, has been beefed up after intelligence agencies warned of a possible terror attack in August.

The temple administration will also make available over one lakh packets of prasad' for distribution among people and devotees on the occasion of Bhoomi Poojan for the Ram Janmabhoomi temple.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust will be sending boxes of Bikaneri laddoos to all foreign embassies in Delhi to mark the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The occasion will be live-streamed on Doordarshan so that the devotees across the globe can be part of the grand event.

There will be 175 guests including PM Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat.

The invited seers include Nirmalanatha Swamy from Adi Chinchingiri Mutt, Shivratreshvara Swamy of Suttur Mutt in Mysuru, Veerendra Hegde from Dharmasthala, Vidhushekara Bharat Swamy from Shringeri Mutt, Basava Madhara Chennaiah Swamy of Madharachennaya Peetha from Chitradurga and Vishwa Prasanna from Pejavarmatt.

Of these six invitees, only two are attending, Basava Madara Chennaiah and Nirmalanatha Swamy. On Tuesday evening, Nirmalanatha Swamy has already reached the temple town in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya.

Apart from Hindu religious leaders, the chairperson of the Sunni Waqf board from Lucknow, Jathedars or Sikh priests, and other religious heads are also invited.
