Gujarat COVID-19 cases cross 41,000 mark, deaths surpass 2,000

Ahmedabad, Jul 11 () The number of coronavirus cases in Gujarat rose by 872 to 41,027 on Saturday while the death toll mounted by 10, including four fatalities in Ahmedabad, to 2,034, state Health department said.

The number of recovered cases went up to 28,685 after 502 patients were discharged in the day, it said.

There are now 10,308 active cases in the state, out of which the condition of 73 patients is critical, the health department said in a release.

The state has so far conducted tests on 4,57,066 samples, it said.

At 270, Surat reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state, followed by Ahmedabad (178) and Vadodara (72).

The number of cases in Surat now stands at 8,120 while the fatalities has gone up by three to 313, it said.

The case count in Ahmedabad district now stands at 22,923 and death toll at 1,515, it stated.

Among the ten deaths, one fatality each was reported from Dahod, Kutch and Patan, apart from Ahmedabad (4) and Surat (3), it said.

Among other districts, Bhavnagar reported49 new cases, Rajkot 41, Bharuch 23, Kheda 20, Mehsana 19, Navsari and Valsad 17 each, Junagadh 24, Gandhinagar 28, Banaskantha 12, Kutch and Surendranagar 10 each, Jamnagar and Sabarkantha nine each, Anand and Gir Somnath eight, Morbi and Narmada seven each, Mahisagar six, etc.
