Maha: Family donates wedding money to COVID-19 fight

Aurangabad, Apr 17 () At the time when many havepostponed their grand weddings due to the COVID-19 lockdown, afamily in Maharashtra's Latur district got their daughtermarried in a simple ceremony and donated the money saved forthe occasion to fund the local administration's fight againstcoronavirus.

Udgir resident Vilas Boke donated Rs 51,000 he hadsaved for his daughter Geetanajli's wedding, along with 125kits containing essentials, to the local administration.

Geetanjali married Swapnil Reddy in a simple ceremonyin the presence of a few family members and officials from thelocal administration on Thursday, in keeping with the norms ofsocial distancing.

The wedding was scheduled to be held on April 9, butwhen the COVID-19 lockdown was announced, the ceremony waspostponed to Thursday.

Deputy collector Pravin Mengshetti, who attended theceremony, said, "The family's decision to help the needy at atime like this, is commendable. I hope this motivates morepeople to help others." AWARU ARU
