Mumbai, Apr 24 () After health workers, Mumbai'spolice personnel are the most overworked lot, as they havebeen manning the city's streets round the clock ever since theCOVID-19 lockdown was imposed last month.

Taking into consideration the problems faced by policepersonnel due to irregular access to restrooms and changingrooms, a city-based NGO has provided two vanity vans to theMumbai police.

The organisation has provided the vans to Nirmal Nagarand Vile Parle police stations in the western suburbs, anofficial said.

"Each vanity van has three rooms and a toilet, apartfrom a few other features. Policemen and women who aredeployed on patrolling duties and nakabandi don't have regularaccess to restrooms. We hope that these vans provide somerelief to them," activist Kunal Sarmarkar said.

The organisation plans to arrange for two more vans inthe coming days, he added.

"This is a good initiative. The vans will provide bigrelief to officials who are deployed for nakabandi, especiallywomen personnel," a constable said. ZAARU ARU
