Sonowal dials eminent personalities of Assam, enquires about well-being amid lockdown

Guwahati, Apr 19 () Assam Chief Minister SarbanandaSonowal on Sunday called up several eminent personalities ofthe state and enquired about their well-being amid thelockdown imposed to contain the spread of novel coronavirus.

The chief minister spoke with noted linguist andfolklore researcher Dr Birendra Nath Dutta, former directorgeneral of police Nishinath Changkakoti, eminent scientist andeducationist Dr Kulendu Pathak and litterateurs Bimal Phukanand Gagan Adhikari, among others, an official release said.

He also spoke with popular musicians Zubeen Garg andAngaraag Mahanta aka Papon, it said.

Sonowal said the state government is tackling thesituation well and is fully prepared to deal with anyexigency, it added. DGACD ACD
