These countries have imposed a COVID-19 lockdown again as cases continue to rise

Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that the country will be under a lockdown from December 25, 2020 to January 3, 2021. The total coronavirus tally stood at 120,330, while the death toll was 975. The country has placed the coronavirus lockdown to keep a check on the spread during the holiday season.

Germany has entered a strict COVID-19 lockdown as the cases continue to surge in the country. To keep people at home during the holiday season, the country has imposed the lockdown until January 10, 2021. During the period, private gatherings have been limited to two households or to a maximum of five people in Germany. The country’s coronavirus tally stands at 1,407,803.

Netherlands has imposed a five-week lockdown until January 19, 2021, even as its citizens protested against the same. “The Netherlands is closing down. We realise the gravity of our decisions, right before Christmas,” said the country’s Prime Minister Mark Rutte. The Netherlands has seen over 600,000 cases and 10,000 deaths due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Wales is entering a lockdown from Christmas Day, as families are being asked to limit their festive gatherings while all non-essential shops will be closed. Wales has seen over 103,000 cases of COVID-19.

Czech Republic has returned to a partial lockdown. Restaurants and hotels in the country, which had reopened only in the beginning of December have been asked to close their doors again. According to reports, public gatherings both inside and outside will be limited to six people, while a nationwide curfew will be in place from 11 pm until 5 am.
