What's going on today:
- Good news: If you were overpaid unemployment insurance, the Biden administration thinks you should be able to keep some. The Department of Labor issued guidance Wednesday that recommends states allow people to keep any overpayment they've received, as long as they didn't receive the payment through fraudulent means.
- Not happy: NY's top court ruled it will hear a case about freeing 'imprisoned' Happy the elephant from the Bronx Zoo, marking a first for a nonhuman animal. The Nonhuman Rights Project says Happy has been "imprisoned" at the Bronx Zoo for decades and should be moved to a sanctuary.
- Caitlyn Jenner appeared on "The Sean Hannity Show" and was the opposite of relatable. During the segment, Jenner referenced her private plane several times and complained that her friends were all moving out of California because there are too many homeless people.
- A GOP-backed auditing group in Maricopa County is burrowing through ballots in search of bamboo fibers and Chinese paper to prove votes were flown in from Asia. The DOJ has already expressed "concern" over the audit, which is being conducted by a company that is - actually - called Cyber Ninjas.
- The NHL continues to be very on-brand. A game between the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals kicked off with a massive brawl after a Capitals player hit opponents. The fight happened just two days after Capitals player Tom Wilson was fined just $5,000 for punching an opponent then body-slamming another.
That's all for now. See you tomorrow.
