Director Dibakar Banerjee, who is ready for his next movie titled "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!" hinted that there are chances that the movie might be made into a franchise, meaning that there can be more movies involving the fictional character.
On being asked if he would want the movie, which is an adaptation of a fictional book character, to be turned into a franchise, he said, "We would love to (make it a franchise), but we are waiting for the first film to do well. This is because - fortunately or unfortunately - a film like this has not yet been made."
Talking further, he said, "If the audiences' hunger and thirst for such films increases and our first Byomkesh story catches on, then our franchise is ready and we would love this franchise to go forward."
Created by the Bengali writer Saradindu Bandyopadhyay, Byomkesh Bakshy is a fictional character, a young Bengali detective. Bandyopadhyay wrote as many as 32 stories involving the character from 1932 until his death in 1970, leaving one story, Bishupal Bodh, incomplete.
