Jet Clarifies, Goyal To Remain Majority Shareholder In The Carrier

Reacting to recent news reports on “ Jet would like to categorically state, for the benefit of all its stakeholders, that the undertaking given to PNB implies that the airline’s promoter and chairman will not dilute his equity, by way of a sale, below 51% at any time, and will continue to be the majority shareholder in the airline,” said the company .
It further added, “It is thus an undertaking of non disposal of any further equity and not a matter of pledging of his shares.”
On January 13, 2015, news reports surfaced which claimed that Goyal had pledged his entire stake to public sector unit Punjab National Bank. According to reports, Goyal shares are valued at Rs 2,600 crore.
