Man vs. Wild ft. Modi explores the uncharted territory of India's first National Park, Jim Corbett in Uttarakhand

Grylls will be venturing Jim Corbett National Park, country's largest tiger reserve located in Nainital District, Ramnagar in Uttarakhand.

Jim Corbett is India's first and oldest National Park that was established in 1936 to conserve the endangered Bengal tiger.

It covers an area of 500 square kilometers where it had 215 tigers as of 2016.

Apart from tigers, it is home to 600 species of birds, 110 varieties of trees, 50 species of mammals.

It reportedly earned ₹37.09 crore in the last four years because of tourism.

The park is named after Jim Corbett, who was both a hunter and a rescuer for the tigers, who also wrote books on them, the most famous ones being ‘Maneaters of Kumaon’.

This park is also home to the Indian rock python better known as Kaa, to those who love the book and movie Jungle Book. This endangered species is native to South Asia.

According to 2018 census, Uttarakhand has 442 tigers, including those at the Corbett national park.
